What to know
The useful question is not just whether a system can be repaired. It is whether that repair still makes sense for the house and the equipment.
A repair decision starts with the failure in front of you, but it should not end there. Equipment condition, repeat service history, comfort problems, and how well the system fits the home all matter.
A smaller electrical repair on an otherwise healthy system can be an easy yes. A large repair on aging equipment with weak airflow and repeated failures deserves a replacement conversation, even if the unit can technically be restarted.
The right contractor should give you both paths when both paths are reasonable. Ask what failed, what else was checked, and what would make the same problem return before you choose.
